THE CELEBRATING WOMEN® AWARD
Christiane Amanpour is one of the most respected and honored journalists in the United States. She is famous for her courage, so dedicated to getting the story that she often reports from dangerous war zones to ensure that the truth is told. Amanpour has also secured exclusive interviews with several of the world’s most powerful leaders. Her many accolades include nine Emmys, one for her documentary, “Struggle for Islam.”

The Women of Meeting Point International of Uganda
THE VISION AWARD
The women of Meeting Point International live in Kireka, an impoverished community of Kampala, Uganda where they are employed in strip quarries, breaking rocks for building material. They responded to Hurricane Katrina’s victims by coming together and raising almost $1,000 dollars to support their sisters in New Orleans. Fierce and undeterred by their own limited $1.20 per day earnings, the women of Kireka exemplify the power of connection and social change philanthropy.
