The New York Women's Foundation
If Your Charitable Donations Could Talk, What Would They Say?

At The New York Women's Foundation, our grants say that we want to build a better, safer, and healthier New York City for low-income women and girls. The New York Women's Foundation has dedicated 17 years to funding community-based organizations that serve this marginalized community, many of whom live in crisis on a daily basis. Making a year-end gift to the Foundation helps us accomplish our mission to help all of New York City's women and girls accomplish their dreams.

Help The New York Women's Foundation do what we do best - fund change. By giving creatively and generously you can ensure our continued success in this uncertain time. Read on for some ideas about how you can make your money talk!

THE CHECK IS IN THE MAIL There is no easier way to receive a tax deduction than through a charitable gift of cash. Check with your employer about matching gifts; many employers will make a donation to the Foundation when you do. If your company has a matching gift program, simply enclose the form along with your check or credit card donation.

STOCK IN OUR STOCKING If you own stock, it is almost always more tax-wise to contribute stock than cash. You avoid paying any capital gains tax on the increase in value of the stock, and you receive an income tax charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the stock at the time of the gift. Your stock broker or trust officer can arrange for a transfer of stock from your account. A gift of appreciated stock is fully deductible, up to a maximum of 30% of your adjusted gross income.

HONOR THY MOTHER, FRIEND OR HEROINE Or sister, or daughter. You can make a donation as a holiday gift in honor of a special person in your life. The Foundation will send a holiday card to her acknowledging your present, and you will support the Foundation's work as well.

STRENGTH IN NUMBERS Think of your colleagues or alumnae association and the wealth of intelligence, skills, and resources you comprise. Several women's groups -including professional associations, alumnae organizations, and women colleagues in law firms and other offices -have made collective donations to the Foundation. Your organization will be identified with the foremost supporters of women and girls' programs in New York City.

REMEMBER US IN YOUR EST TE PLANS Nothing could be simpler than making the NYWF the beneficiary of your IRA. Also, consider listing The New York Women's Foundation as a beneficiary of your will and providing the Foundation with a lasting source of support.
