The New York Women’s Foundation community is deeply saddened by the loss of Janet Riccio, longtime board member and former Co-Chair of our Board of Directors (2011 to 2019). Janet was an extraordinary leader and champion of The Foundation and of women’s leadership. A transformational leader herself, Janet was Executive Vice President of Omnicom; Founder of Omniwomen, the in-house women’s network; and Dean of Omnicom University, which is recognized one of the preeminent executive education experiences.
As Chair of the Communications Committee, she oversaw the introduction of “radical generosity” as an integral part of The Foundation’s brand. Janet was the very embodiment of radical generosity as she worked side by side with fellow Board members, staff and grantee partners to further The Foundation’s mission, influence and impact. She will be greatly missed. Her leadership and kindness will always be remembered by those of us who had the privilege of working with her. Our hearts go out to her family, friends and colleagues.
